ISDC was invited to hold presentations at .Net Summer Rally 2009 event, organized by Microsoft Student Partners UTCN. We had two sessions. Yesterday my colleagues Dani Bica and Tudor Turcu presented ORM concepts, with demos on LLBLGen. Today, I and Sergiu spoke about Composite Applications and Prism.
We started by explaining the concepts and some design patterns. We did it, going through the Composite Client Application Guidance from MSDN. Then we went through an application we are developing using Prism, by showing how it is implemented, pointing out the benefits of a Composite Application Architecture and mentioning the extensions we did to the framework to make it work with Windows Forms. In the end, I did a demo on how to communicate between modules using commands, event aggregator and services. I hope we have managed to raise the interest and curiosity of the students to start studying these concepts and to go towards developing applications at a higher level.
