Gala 10 for Cluj: ISDC awards innovation
December, 2011
We are not easily impressed but Darius Mirza surprised us with his projects and intelligence. He is one of the award winners in the Gala "10 for Cluj". This event is a yearly action, organized by the Cluj City Hall with the support of local businesses and organizations that award students who show excellent performance in school.
Gala "10 for Cluj” is an initiative that promotes excellence in education. This year’s edition counted more than 350 nominations for excellence submitted by parents, teachers, colleagues, friends, or even by students themselves. Main categories awarded were: Ambassadors for Cluj, Innovation, Science, IT, Social, Environment, Arts, Individual and Team sports, Trainer of the year and Special prize.
ISDC got the honor to award winners in the Innovation category. The two winners in this category, high school level were Darius Mirza and Licker Nandor. They are from the same high school - School of Computer Science "Tiberiu Popoviciu" - guided by the same teacher, Mrs. Corina Thomas.
The first winner, Darius Mirza was awarded by ISDC. He is a "veteran" of the Gala. He won first prize in the National Invention Contest "Steps in the footsteps of Edison" with the "Jacob's Ladder" and "Device for demonstration of Kirlian effect". Darius also attended the International Festival of Science -"Science on Stage 2011" in Copenhagen, Denmark.
We invited Darius to visit our iLab at the ISDC technology center in Cluj and share with us his passion for technology, challenges at school, and ambitions for the future.
